In this episode, Walter joins me to discuss this Oscars debacle. I think the moment was staged and Walter does not. I think I’m upset that the whole thing was such a distraction from Moonlight’s win. Please share your thoughts.

Before we get into that drama we talk about one of our favorite films, Moulin Rouge! We went to a special showing of it at the Alamo Drafthouse and had a blast. Of course we have to tell you all about it.

Hey, Nash! Always a fun podcast. I must say however, NO Oscar conspiracy. Nobody would be stupid enough to risk going down in history for causing the worst blunder in all of the Oscars, as well as risk getting fired from PwC just to throw shade at “Moonlight.” Furthermore, your theory means that they had the gift of 20/20 hindsight to know how the whole thing would go down. Warren Beatty might have just as easily realized he had the wrong envelope and said so. The stage manager could have stopped what was happening before anyone made a speech, etc… And unfortunately, the MISTAKE is what makes NEWS, much more than who actually won. That’s what we’re going to hear about. Yes, it’s a bummer for the makers of “Moonlight,” who won’t get the big moment they deserved, but nobody could plan something like that and know how it would turn out.
